Frequently asked questions

Q1 Cremation

If cremation is chosen as the final method of disposition, can we still have traditional funeral services?

Answer 1

Absolutely. Even when a cremation is preferred, you are not limited to the types of services that you may chose from. A traditional service, including an open casket viewing is possible.

Q2 Pre-arranged funeral

If I pre-arrange my own funeral arrangements, do I also have to pay in advance?

A2

No. If you simply want to have us detail your funeral arrangements in advance and keep them on file, we are glad to do so at no charge. However, there may be some circumstances that may make it beneficial for you to pre-fund your funeral. The following examples demonstrate prepaying your funeral can be a smart option:

  • if you may be going on public aid

  • if you would like to relieve a financial concern form your loved ones

  • if you would like to guarantee your funeral expenses at today's prices

Q3 Passing away out-of-town

If my relative passes away out-of-town, what should I do?

A3

If all the funeral services will be held here, simply call us. We will arrange to have the body brought back here. And, we will handle all the details of the funeral from our funeral home.

Q4 Costs

What does a funeral cost?

A4

This depends on the types of services and merchandise chosen. The funeral can be tailored to meet individual needs or desires. For example:

  • a direct cremation without any attendant rites or ceremonies would cost $2,595

  • a traditional burial with a one day viewing and services the next day would cost $5,600 plus the cost of any accommodation items, merchandise and sales tax.

There are a few things to keep in mind:

  • the big variable in the cost of a funeral would be the type of casket and vault. Our price range for caskets starts at $695 and goes to $10,675. And our price range for vaults is $695 to $9,395.

  • The above costs would not include any cemetery charges.

  • There is a wide spectrum of services available to provide you with appropriate services that fit within your budget.

Q5 Who to contact

Do I have to contact my church, the cemetery or the newspaper?

A5

No. All of the details of coordinating the funeral can be handled by us after the arrangement conference, where we obtain all of the information we need, and have you make all of the decisions regarding the services you prefer. We will contact all parties such as your clergy, cemetery, florist, and newspapers.

Q6 Benefits to deceased Veterans

What benefits are available to the families of deceased veterans?

A6

All families of deceased veterans are eligible to receive the following:

  • a flag

  • a grave marker

  • military honors at the funeral

  • additional monetary benefits may be in order under certain circumstances

Q7 Social Security notification

Do I have to notify Social Security of my relative's death?

A7

No. We will notify Social Security. The Social Security Administration provides us with a form with the specific purpose of notifying them when someone passes away.
